GOLDIE FINGER Although it's probably fair to predict that she won't inherit any of Daddy's hard-thieved gold, Goldie Finger has certainly inherited his passion for it. She's an immensely greedy young lady, and immensely selfish to boot, having successfully used her natural charm and paternal connections to worm her way into the criminal world her father has inhabited for years. That said, she only rarely teams up with Goldfinger, preferring the company of brash female bodybuilder, Barbella, with whom she cooks up no end of dastardly, gold-stealing plots. Like her dad, Goldie's also not averse to a bit of banter with members of the Bond clan, and relishes each confrontation with young James as an opportunity to uphold the family tradition. One of the rarer villains in the series, the creative team's use of Goldie Finger as a character seems more than a little confused. One would think that she would crop up exclusively in episodes featuring her better-known father; as it is, they only share one appearance (Goldie's Gold Scam). In her other three appearances, Goldie Finger teams up with Barbella (City of Gold; Going for the Gold; Goldie Finger at the End of the Rainbow). Her relationship with her father isn't referred to in any of these three shows, leaving viewers who watched the show from the start potentially confused as to her identity. Not for the first time, this suggests a mix-up in the running order, since for continuity's sake 'Goldie's Gold Scam' should therefore fall somewhere between 'Earthcracker' and 'City of Gold'. It's a shame, given the general lack of female leads in the series, that Goldie Finger wasn't made more of during the run. |
