HORACE 'I.Q.' BOOTHROYD

As young Bond's roommate at Warfield, Horace Boothroyd - or I.Q. as his friends know him - is also James's closest friend and confidante. Maybe it's something to do with the fact that his grandfather, MI6's inventor-in-chief Q, and James's uncle go back a long way. Needless to say, Boothroyd the younger has inherited his grandfather's love of gadgets although, as James occasionally discovers to his peril, I.Q. is still learning the trade. For the most part, however, the fight against S.C.U.M. would be impossible were it not for I.Q.'s gizmos. It's just a shame his natural shyness, modesty and two left feet don't allow him a similar knack with women - a fact he occasionally bemoans.
