GOLDFINGER

One of 007's most formidable opponents, these days Goldfinger is causing trouble for Bond's nephew as an agent of S.C.U.M. - and he still has only one thing on his mind. Utterly devoid of conscience, and with a particular fondness for betrayal, outright lies and his own terrible jokes, it's no wonder his equally dangerous daughter Goldie turned out the way she did. Usually accompanied by chief stooge Odd Job, Goldfinger has something of the colonial about him, and is more than happy to devastate entire societies in his relentless pursuit of the shiny stuff. It's lucky, then, that Bond Junior has so far proven himself immune to the Midas touch.

As one of the five villains to cross over from the films to James Bond Jr, it will perhaps come as a surprise to fans of the series to learn that Goldfinger only actually made four appearances throughout the TV run, although maybe it seems like more because the episodes in question were pretty memorable ones. As far as any dialogue in James Bond Jr can be said to be good, Goldfinger gets more than his fair share of it, and his outings in Earthcracker, Cruise to Oblivion, Goldie's Gold Scam and Killer Asteroid are among the series' better episodes. He was also frequently used in the comics, appearing in three of the original stories: The Gilt Complex, Wave Goodbye to the U.S.A. and Homeward Bound. Goldfinger always works with Odd Job throughout the series, although Odd Job can occasionally be found working for other S.C.U.M. villains, too. Goldfinger also employs Nick Nack once in Cruise to Oblivion. Intriguingly, although Goldie Finger is established as his daughter in 'Goldie's Gold Scam', she actually appears on several other occasions, some before that episode, without any reference to the relationship. Indeed, this is the only time they appear together (with the brief exception of a scene in the tie-in puzzle book, 'As Good as Gold').
