THE CHAMELEON

Meet the Chameleon, one of James Bond Jr's trickiest opponents. The micro-moulders under this crooked character's skin provide him with an incredibly useful ability - he can adopt the facial appearance of anybody he wishes. As a result frame-jobs, identity fraud and infiltration of high-security premises are a piece of cake for the Chameleon - as is escaping from the police. He's especially spiteful, dealing harshly with those who cross him; though while extremely devious and criminally creative, this villain's past success and extraordinary ability often causes him to attempt daring and outrageous schemes beyond even his means. The result is that, with some intervention from young Bond, he invariably falls flat on his face.

Although he very rarely appears, the Chameleon is one of the show's most interesting villains - partly because his exact relationship with S.C.U.M. (that of apparent subcontractor, as opposed to full member) is made unusually explicit. Following his outing as a solo crook attempting to sell military equipment to S.C.U.M. (The Chameleon) he has only been seen working in partnership with others - namely Dr Derange (Red Star One) and the one-off villain Lex Illusion (The Art of Evil), who helps him try to attain full membership by robbing famous Parisian galleries. It's interesting to note that in all three of the Chameleon's appearances in the series, he is captured by the authorities at the end of the episode - breaking with the convention that main villains on the show almost always escape. Perhaps this inability to get away from crime scenes explains why he is never made a full member of the organisation.
